The Forest Service Department is responsible for promoting the interests of forestry in Northern Ireland, the development of afforestation, the production and supply of timber, and the maintenance of adequate reserves of growing trees.




The entire area of South Armagh offers a wide variety of sporting and recreational activities and has long been renowned for its excellent reputation for walking, cycling, golfing and horse-riding.  South Armagh is considered a world class angling destination boasting some of the best waters for both quality game and coarse angling.




The Patrick Kavanagh Web site is dedicated to the Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh. This site gives information on the poet, his birth place Inniskeen, the area today, the Patrick Kavanagh Centre, and an on-line book shop where you can buy Kavanagh's poetry and prose. 




Castleblayney is the home of the Iontas Theatre, the Blayney Blades women'sgroup,  Castleblayney Community Childcare, Castleblayney BranchLibrary and the Iontas Garden Cafe. Iontas is also a venue for meetings , conferences, art exhibitions and a wide range of arts activities generally.





The South Armagh Genealogy Project and is funded by the South Armagh Tourism Initiative through the Natural Resource Rural Tourism Initiative, Rural Development Programme and EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation.  The Project is being delivered by Armagh City and District Council.

Cuimhneamh is the name given to the living history project currently undeway in the South Amrmagh - North Louth - South Monaghan area. The aim of Cuimhneamh is to provide an extensive and ongoing archive of people's memories and experiences during our recent history from the early 20th century to the present day, through audio/visual interviews, combined with documents and photographs.
