A warm South Armagh welcome awaits you at Tí Chulainn Cultural Activity and Residential centre, An Mullach Bán, in the picturesque ring of Gullion (AONB).

The Tí Chulainn Centre is run by a 'not for profit' company to benefit the local area and visitors to the region.

'Tí Chulainn' is the Irish Language translation of 'The House of Culann'. Legend tells us that Culann was a Smith and Armourer that lived on Slieve Gullion, and regularly hosted the King of Ulster. He is most famous for his fierce watchdog whom the boy Sétanta killed, one of the consequences being that he would now be called Cú Chulainn 'The Hound of Culann'.

The Centre is the jewel in the crown of South Armagh tourism and we specialize in enabling the visitor to experience and participate in the rich cultural heritage of the region.

'Uncovering the Past'

In May 2006, the South Armagh Tourism Initiative (SATI) identified the archaeology and geology of the South Armagh region as niche products that could be further developed in conjunction with Geological Survey Northern Ireland, Newry and Mourne District Council, Armagh City and District Council, RoSA and Mourne Heritage Trust.
It is envisaged that this high quality brochure can be used as a navigational tool to the rich archaeological, geological and natural heritage of the South East Region of Ulster. One suggestion is that this publication could be used by the education sector at various levels during field trips to the area.

Tí Chulainn is at present designing educational field trips to the area for second and third level educational institutions. These are ideal for those studying geology, geography and archaelogy. If you are interested in taking a field trip to the any please do hesitate to contact us at the details below.
